Argentina Digital Nomad Visa Overview
In May 2022, Argentina announced a new digital nomad visa. Applications are now open, but the requirements are still obscure. The visa is valid for 180 days and renewable for an additional 180 days. Citizens from countries that do not need a tourist visa to enter Argentina are eligible to apply.
The visa is targeted at digital nomads. Applicants are asked to provide a copy of their CV and qualifications as well as evidence of employment to demonstrate their digital nomad status. While no minimum income requirements have been published, it is assumed that a minimum of around $2,500 per month will be necessary to qualify.
The Argentinian government is also providing a benefits package for digital nomads when they arrive in the country via the Buenos Aires airport. The package includes a 40% discount on airport transfers, discounted first-night hotel stays in the city, a SIM card, and a SUBE card for public transport.

Types of Argentina Digital Nomad Visas
Before Argentina launched its digital nomad visa in May 2022, remote workers wishing to spend time in Argentina usually entered as a tourist. This allows you to stay in the country for up to 90 days. Those who want to stay longer usually overstay on their visa illegally, as there is a flat fine of $106.
Argentina also offers an investment visa, which requires investing the equivalent of 1.5 million Argentine pesos in local services. That is the equivalent of about $100,000. The visa is renewable with an annual investment, and you are eligible for permanent residence after three years.

How to Apply for the Argentina Digital Nomad Visa – Step-By-Step Instructions
You must make your application for the Argentina digital nomad visa online via the Migracion portal. You will also be advised of the success of your application via email. You should print this email and take it with you when you travel, and your digital nomad visa will be issued when you land in Argentina.
Step 1 – Acquire All the Necessary Documents
Before starting your application, you should acquire all the necessary documents. Bear in mind that documents issued by foreign governments should be authenticated with an apostille and that documents should be translated into Spanish by an officially recognized translation service. Documents should be digitized for upload via the online portal.
The required documents include:
Your passport, with at least six months of validity.
A cover letter explaining your reasons for applying, your acceptable remote work, and the income you have available to support yourself.
Proof of income in the form of bank statements and payslips.
Proof of employment.
Copy of an up-to-date CV and proof of relevant qualifications.
Proof of accommodation for at least the first part of your trip.
Proof of health insurance to cover your medical expenses.
Proof of a clean criminal record for the countries that you have lived in for the past three years.
While you do not need a copy of your birth certificate to make the application, you will need it later to obtain your DNI. It should have an apostille and be translated into Spanish by a recognized translator.
Step 2 – Create an Online Account and Make Your First Payment
To start the application process you will need to register your emails and create an online account using the Migracion portal. At this stage, you will also need to fulfill the basic application form with your personal details. The form is in Spanish.
As part of this first step, you will also need to pay the application fee. This must be paid via credit card online using Provincia Net. The initial fee is $120.
Step 3 – Make Your Second Payment
Completing the first part of the application online will generate a payment number that can be used to make your second payment as a bank deposit at the bank designated by your closest consulate. The fee is $80. You will need to make this payment before completing your application.
Step 4 – Validate Your Application and Upload Your Documents
Once you have made your payment, you should return to the application portal to confirm your deposit. At this stage, you will also be asked to upload digitized versions of all your documentation to the portal and complete your application.
Step 5 – Receive Your Visa and Travel to Argentina
Once your application is complete, you will need to wait between 10 and 45 days for it to be approved. You will be notified by email. Once you receive the email, you are free to travel to Argentina.
Print a copy of the email and take it with you when you travel, as it will make it easier for the immigration authorities to locate your records on arrival. Your visa will be issued to you at passport control.
Steps 6 – Obtain Your DNI
If you choose to stay in Argentina for more than 90 days, or you want to do things like open a bank account or sign a contract, you will need to register for a DNI, a Documento Nacional de Identidad. It can be obtained at a Citizen Registry or online via the Mi Argentina App. There is no charge and you will be able to collect your document from the Civil Registry within 10-45 days. You will be notified via email when it is available, or you can track the progress of your document here.

Once you have prepared your documents (with apostilles and translations), it may take you a few days to complete the online application due to the need to make a bank deposit. But once your application has been submitted, it should take between 10-45 days for your visa to be approved.
